The German Data Commissioners just concluded their 83rd Conference. It
appears they endorsed the intent of the EU proposals for data privacy
reform with a few caveats. Several hot topics came up for discussion;
ACTA, surveillance of telecommunications and law enforcement use of
internet searches, including monitoring of social networks.
They produced a few resolutions on matters of heightened concerns. The
text is in German but if you have a mind to read it all, inline Google
Translate is quite helpful.
