[APAC-Discuss] CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: 2017 Call for Nominations for ALAC Members, Regional Leadership and ALAC Delegates to the NomCom

Thank you so much for the support given to my nomination entitling me to
stand as the ALAC representative for APRALO for another term.  I am very
honoured that I have the confidence of so many members from across the AP
region. Of course, this is very important when our role on the ALAC is to
represent the interests of APRALO members individually and collectively,
but it is heartening to think that I might be doing something good for
someone somewhere.

Several factors have influenced my interest in returning to the ALAC for a
final term. One is to continue to support my colleagues in the Pacific as
well as those in other underserved communities within our region; another
is to encourage and support our APRALO members to participate in regional
activities, particularly the APrIGF, APRICOT and APNIC events, as well as
national IGFs & SIGs and ICANN Fellowships; and finally to continue working
with the APRALO leadership team on the development of our leadership
mentoring programme with particular focus this time on ICANN policy
issues.We recognise that it is difficult for members to contribute to
public comments when they don't quite understand the content of the issues
that they are being asked to comment on. The challenge for us, as ALAC and
APRALO leaders, will be how to develop better understanding so that more of
our ALSes and individual members can take part in the discussions about new
policy that is being developed by the various sections of ICANN, and to
which we in APRALO are encouraged have a say.

Thank you again for supporting my nomination. and for trusting me to
represent you to the best of my ability.

And I would also like to register my support for Lianna's self-nomination
for the role of APRALO Vice Chair. She would be a valuable addition to the
Leadership Team due to her experience and involvement in APRALO and
At-Large activities overall .
