Dear All,
1. Whilst on the MAG, I noticed the dismal participation of SIDS in the
IGF aside from Tracy's Workshop annually and so I am looking to
*increase* participation of SIDS in this year's IGF as well as the
coming year.
2. I managed to reserve a slot for the Preparatory Pre-IGF for two
hours for SIDS Preparation for the IGF 2017. i thought that it would be
useful to prepare SIDS participants and those with an interest in SIDS to
actively participate. This is scheduled for Sunday December 17, 2017
09:00 - 11:00
Salle 5 <https://igf2017.sched.com/venue/Salle+5> *Centre International
de Conférences Genève (CICG).*
3. This will require moderators, I was thinking Tracy Hackshaw could
give some opening remarks as a Government representative of Trinidad and
Tobago and SIDS involvement within the IGF space. Noting that Tracy will be
heavily involved in the ISOC Stream, I was hoping that Peng Hwa (civil
society) and Bevil Wooding (technical community) could be moderators for
the SIDS Event.
4. As you know, the SIDS includes the AIMS, Caribbean and the Pacific,
see <https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/topics/sids/list>.
5. I was also just advised 30 minutes ago that someone had cancelled
their Booth Booking so it has been given to us as SIDS, which means, we can
invite any SIDS member to showcase their countries and other material etc.
6. Objective would be to create an Alliance and Mailing List for those
from SIDS communities where there can share information, challenges and
resources, networking opportunities and also to provide an active base with
which to comfortably apply for many workshops in 2018.
7. I will be present to provide support but would like Peng Hwa, Tracy
and Bevil to take the lead role in moderating. I am looking for someone
from Mauritius too, so any ideas would be great.
8. For those who would like to contribute or play an active role in the
Preparatory Session, flick an email to sala at pasifikanexus.nu
9. If you would like to bring material from your organization to the IGF
and showcase it in the SIDS Booth, your are welcome to bring your
pamphlets, brochures and posters and bring your own pins and tape for
placing on the wall or blutac etc. This is your chance to showcase the
Region and your community and developments in your country or community.
10. It would be great to have representatives from the Private Sector
and Government feature in the Panels for the Preparatory Session, so if you
want to volunteer yourself, please let us know.
11. If you would also like to contribute to the Agenda, let us know by
emailing sala at pasifikanexus.nu
