[APAC-Discuss] Update from APRALO

Dear all,

Greetings !! This is an update from the Leadership Team.

We last met during the March Monthly call/meeting during the ICANN58
meeting at Copenhagen. As you are aware, our General Assembly is scheduled
at Abu Dhabi for October 2017, which is slightly over six months from now.
>From now to then, there is quite a bit of work to be done and also some
important processes (such as selections to leadership positions) to
complete.

Please note that one representative of each *active ALS* would be invited
to the GA at Abu Dhabi (please see below for what constitutes an "active
ALS").

Here are a few points that we would like to update you on:

*1. At-Large Review:* As you are aware, both ALAC and the RALOs responded
separately to the public comment process of the At-Large Review. APRALO
took an active role in creating the RALO response to the draft document.
The RALO report as well as the ALAC report were submitted towards the end
of last month. The RALO report incorporated over 30 contributions from the
community.

*2. APRALO ALS/Member Survey:* We have been working on a survey of ALSes
and Individual Members for the last few weeks. It will be circulated
separately over the next couple of days. All ALSes and individual members
are requested to respond.

*3. Selection to APRALO Leadership Positions:* As already announced,
several leadership positions are due to be filled in May. The positions
that are currently open are:

   - APRALO Vice Chair
   - ALAC Member from APRALO
   - NomCom member from the region (selection is by ALAC, APRALO can
   suggest names)
   - NomCom appointee from Asia Pacific to ALAC (selection is fully by
   ICANN NomCom)
   - APRALO Secretary (discretionary)

Staff will be announcing details of the selection process in May 2017.
Community members who are interested may kindly participate.

*4. APRALO Individual Membership Admission*: APRALO has been admitting
individual members since 2015. The Leadership Team, during its meeting at
Copenhagen, decided to create a form that would be administered to
individual membership applicants to collect baseline information. We will
be shortly circulating the form for community comments.

*5. Planning for the GA*: We would need community volunteers for various
aspects of the GA, including Programme, Finance, Organizing and ALS
Outreach. We will be putting out a call for volunteers. Kindly participate
if you have some time to spare.

*6. Identifying "Active" ALSes*: We would like to invite all our active
ALSes to the GA at ICANN60. Noting that our last GA was in 2014 (during
ATLAS II) and the next one would be several years from now, we request all
ALSes to utilize this opportunity.

To achieve the status of an Active ALS, we expect that *ALSes participate
in APRALO activities such as Monthly Calls, Surveys, Webinars, Working
Groups relevant to the ALS, and also update your information & activities
at the APRALO web site. *In particular, please ensure that your primary and
secondary contact information is up-to-date.
