Dear APRALO members,
Following Olivier's e-mail on the appointment of members of the Cross Community WG on IANA Stewardship Transition and taking into consideration the limitation of time (I should submit our RALO nomination to the staff already in 3 days), please, let me know whom you would like to nominate from our region, or self-nominate yourself if you consider yourself being capable to fulfill this important role.
Please, keep in mind, that this position is really very important, and it will take a lot of your time, so, please, keep in mind while nominating or self-nominating, the time commitment, needed for this role, the reporting back to ALAC, and many hours of conference calls and discussions. The information about this WG is presented by Olivier below.
So, please, nominate yourself or someone whom you think will fulfill this role the best from APRALO region by the end of Monday, September 15, 20 UTC, for me to be able to send the nomination name/s to At-Large staff.
Best

Subject: [Secretariat] IMPORTANT: Appointment of members of the Cross Community Working Group on IANA Stewardship Transition

Dear RALO Chairs,

As you know from the message below, the ALAC has just endorsed the
Charter for a Cross Community Working Group on IANA Stewardship
Transition. As a result, the next step in this process is to appoint
people to the 5 positions that the Charter has defined as At-Large seats
in the CWG.

The At-Large Ad-hoc WG on the Transition of US Government Stewardship of
the IANA Function ("IANA Issues") has discussed next steps for this
process during its last conference call.

The "IANA Issues" WG resolved that I, as the Chair of the WG, should
write an email to the RALO Chairs asking them to suggest one person from
their region, taken from the list of participants to the IANA Issues
working group, as listed on: https://community.icann.org/x/OYThAg

It was felt that only members of the "IANA Issues" WG would be suitable
for appointment to the CWG on IANA Transition since they would act as a
liaison to the IANA Issues WG and already be involved in counselling our
two representatives Jean-Jacques Subrenat and Mohamed El Bashir in the
"IANA Coordination Group".

Once you have provided your recommendation of one candidate per region
by emailing Staff and me, the IANA Issues WG will ask the ALAC for
consent into appointing the candidate into the Cross Community Working
Group on IANA Stewardship Transition.

I look forward to your kind reply before 23:59 UTC on Wednesday 17
September 2014.

Due to the short timelines, if you are in need of any clarification
about the process, please do not hesitate to get in touch sooner rather
than later.

Best regards,

Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond
Interim Chair of The At-Large Ad-hoc WG on the Transition of US
Government Stewardship of the IANA Function
ALAC Chair

*Question:* Do you accept the amendment proposed by the ALAC to add at
the end of Section II of the CWG Charter
<https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/49349011/CWG-DT%20Draft%20Charter%20-%2014%20August%202014%20Updated.pdf?version=1&modificationDate=1408742104000&api=v2>?
The Amendment states: "Issues related to ensuring IANA's viability and
effectiveness, are also within scope of the CWG. Such issues could
include, but are not limited to: Charging structure or the lack thereof
and languages that IANA can function in.”
