Dear Karaitiana,
I can explain what will happen after the poll closes, we will have decided either to:
1) Proceed with the process as scheduled -immediately
2) Delay the process until a webinar on the ALAC role has been held
In the meantime I am taking notes of the (in my own notebook) and once the formal ALAC nomination period starts, I will reconfirm with the nominees and will input the names into the WIKI.

Thanks for clarifying that Sala, I appreciate that. It does prove my point about the confusion.
Perhaps someone can explain what will happen after the poll closes. Is it binding, or merely a democratic vote for APRALO to formalise at a future meeting or simply a FYI.

Actually, once the call for nominations is open, it is an open invitation to treat. Under RALO governing rules, the process for calls has been initiated and all nominations are now in play and cannot be rescinded unless of course Fouad and Maureen both withdraw their nominations.
The issue of the poll is merely to show what the general climate is on continuing the process. The poll cannot circumvent the process but it can certainly delay the process if there is general consensus to support Rinalia's suggestion to delay the process.

While I have seen and believe in the benefits of the early ALAC vote to allow transition and succession, and I am surprised that all of the historical documentation in support of this has been ignored. We cannot being nominations till we know "when" the nomination period is open. Thus, I believe all nominations and support are invalid till the pole closes could be seen as confusing the current poll.
I would like to suggest that all nominations and support emails cease immediately and staff ignore the correspondence as it.
