Hello, APRALO members,

Please note the following important election-related announcements from the
At-Large Staff.

First, it is our duty to announce that Professor Hong Xue has resigned as
APRALO Chair effective 31 March 2011.  We would like to thank Professor Xue
for her leadership and work as Chairperson.

APRALO’s Vice-Chairs, Fouad Bajwa and Charles Mok, are now serving as acting
Co-Chairs and will do so until the seating of the new, regularly elected
Chairperson.

Second, we would like to announce the upcoming elections for the positions
of APRALO Chair (1), Vice-Chair (1), and Secretariat (1).  The Vice-Chair
position to be filled is currently held by Charles Mok; the Secretariat
position is currently held by ISOC-Hong Kong.

As decided by the acting Co-Chairs, the terms for each of these newly
elected APRALO officers will be as follows:
     -  The new Chair will serve both for an interim term of 14 May 2011
through 30 June 2011 (completing the term of Professor Xue) and for the
official term of 01 July 2011 through 30 June 2013.
     -  The new Vice-Chair and Secretariat both will serve for the official
term of 01 July 2011 through 30 June 2013.

Third, with this e-mail, we are calling for nominations in the elections for
APRALO Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretariat (as described above).  The
nomination period opens today and will close on 29 April 2011.  Kindly
e-mail all nominations to the APAC Discuss list (
apac-discuss at atlarge-lists.icann.org<mailto:
apac-discuss at atlarge-lists.icann.org>) and cc the At-Large Staff (
staff at atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff at atlarge.icann.org>).

Election schedule


6 April 2011 -- At-Large Staff will announce elections and call for
nominations



6-29 April 2011 – Nomination period (nominations accepted for approximately
four weeks)



6 May 2011 -- Deadline for nomination acceptances (nominees must accept
nominations no later than seven days after the nomination period ends on 29
April 2011)



9-13 May 2011 -- Elections (elections begin no later than one week after the
deadline for nomination acceptances and end no later than two weeks after
that deadline)



14 May 2011 -- New APRALO Chairperson seated (term: 14 May 2011 through 30
June 2013)



1 July 2011 -- New APRALO Vice-Chairperson and Secretariat seated (term: 1
July 2011 through 30 June 2013)
