</span>Her work as already borne fruit, despite the distraction of a global pandemic. I’d love to see her intentions come to fruition.</b><o:p></o:p></p>

<span style="color:black">call for the ALAC Chair to be elected for one year, but subject to certain conditions, may automatically be renewed for one additional year. As Maureen Hilyard was elected to serve as Chair for 2018-19, and was automatically renewed
for 2019-20, this year there must be a new election for ALAC Chair for the 2020-2021 ICANN year.<br>

The requirements and responsibilities of the Chair are listed in Section 5 of the RoP. The Chair must make a major time commitment in the order of 20-40 hours per week, and at times significantly more. Recent Chairs have regularly participated in all ALAC meetings,
most ALAC Working Groups and Sub-Committee meetings, many RALO meetings, as well as participated actively in ICANN policy Working Groups. ICANN F2F meetings for Chairs are typically at least one day longer than for other ALAC Members.<br>
<br>
Nominations are now open for individuals to serve as the Chair of the ALAC.<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><b>Nominations may be made by any current ALAC Member.</b><span class="apple-converted-space"> </span>Nominees need not be an ALAC Member
at the time of the nomination, but must have a reasonable expectation of being an ALAC Member after the completion of the upcoming ICANN69 Meeting. Self-nominations are also allowed.<br>

<b>Nominations will close on 21 September 2020 at 23:59 UTC.</b><br>
<br>
There is no requirement for nominations to be seconded.<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span><br>
