You will all recall that at the ALAC-Board meeting in Marrakech, Cherine
Chalably had suggested that perhaps instead of forming a new group to
inspect the Category 1, SG 1-8 TLDs, that the task could be referred to
either or both of the CCT Review Team and the GNSO new gTLD PDP, and he
suggested that a phone call be set up the following week to discuss this.
That was done and I met with Cherine, Thomas Schneider and James Bladel
last week. A summary of that meeting will be distributed shortly, but the
letter that Olivier attached was the result. <br><br>
Although the Board cannot instruct either the RT or the PDP to do
anything, the letter does set some expectations. Moreover, I was very
please when, on this week's meeting of the GTLD PDP, Jeff, Neuman, one of
the co-chairs, presented a brief summary of the issues to be discussed in
the PDP< and the issue of such "special" TLDs was covered
very well.<br><br>
