[ALAC] Nomination for ALAC Chair

Dear Alan,
 Thanks for the breakdown. As we all now understand the demand, I think it
is now for RALOs, especially the RALO that has never produced a chair to
ensure that they build the necessary capacity around the right set of
people while also having a long-term plan. I hope after this is done we
would all support the right person.


Also, I believe that it is also possible to reduce the workload on chairs.
It is not realistic for it to be a full-time role in practice while it is
not the same on paper. One way is to redistribute the workload among ALAC
members. I think this is doable if we ensure there is trust and
understanding.  I honestly think AFRALO should have produced the ALAC chair
some years back if there was a better understanding within the community.

On your last comment. yes, that might be the case. My reason for having the
position rotated is to ensure that everyone feels wanted within the
community. It is also a useful way to mentor others. We have seen around
the world now that once a group especially groups considered as the
minority is able to cross a barrier it encourages and shows others from
that group that it is achievable and they only need to get it right.
