[ALAC] Call for Nominations for ALAC Chair

Dear All,

The At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) Rules of Procedure Section 17 (RoP - Short URL http://tinyurl.com/ALAC-RoP-2018-10 [tinyurl.com]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http:/tinyurl.com/ALAC-RoP-2018-10__;!!PtGJab4!pACqadULxerOAC-Sz2Wm6XkrHt_NhdzPFdrCEg92DFPBRmMYmfSTypEwfSi0EJvAskyymozP$>)
call for the ALAC Chair to be elected for one year, but subject to certain conditions, may automatically be renewed for one additional year. As Maureen Hilyard was elected to serve as Chair for 2018-19, and was automatically renewed for 2019-20, this year there must be a new election for ALAC Chair for the 2020-2021 ICANN year.

The requirements and responsibilities of the Chair are listed in Section 5 of the RoP. The Chair must make a major time commitment in the order of 20-40 hours per week, and at times significantly more. Recent Chairs have regularly participated in all ALAC meetings, most ALAC Working Groups and Sub-Committee meetings, many RALO meetings, as well as participated actively in ICANN policy Working Groups. ICANN F2F meetings for Chairs are typically at least one day longer than for other ALAC Members.

Nominations are now open for individuals to serve as the Chair of the ALAC. Nominations may be made by any current ALAC Member. Nominees need not be an ALAC Member at the time of the nomination, but must have a reasonable expectation of being an ALAC Member after the completion of the upcoming ICANN69 Meeting. Self-nominations are also allowed.

Nominations will close on 21 September 2020 at 23:59 UTC.

There is no requirement for nominations to be seconded.

Nominations other than self-nominations must be accepted within seven days after the close of nominations. Acceptance (or refusals) should be sent to the alac at atlarge-lists.icann.org<mailto:alac at atlarge-lists.icann.org>. Nominees without access to that list should send their acceptance to staff at atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff at atlarge.icann.org>.

In accordance with the ALAC RoP, following the nomination/acceptance period, a Selection Summary will be posted detailing all valid nominations and the process to be followed to complete the selection. The selection of the four other ALAC Leadership Team members will be initiated once the selection of the Chair is completed.
