Folks

Part of me agrees.

But first - PICs has a very specific meaning or at least had to date - clauses in an application for a new gTLD (voluntary or mandatory, depending on  when/how they were made)

The global public interest is much broader - going way beyond new gTLD applications.   

(sorry, it’s the pedantry in me)

And OCL is right - we did have a WG on that broader issue, having  stabs at defining what is in the public interest, what is or should be in ICANN’s remit.  Some of the issues are about broader and deeper consultation, part of the issues are covered by our DNS abuse campaign, others are found in the SubPro discussion, others in the CCT recommendations, in all, concerns of the end users. 

And I agree with Maureen - instead of creating a new working group, everything we do should be against the concept of public interest.
