ICANN's free and open online learning platform that introduces the basics
of the Domain Name System (DNS). The course takes learners through the
different components of the DNS; explaining resource records, the different
types, and why they are useful; delving into DNS processes such as DNS
delegations, reverse mapping, DNS resolution, and caching; and discussing
the importance of avoiding security risks associated with DNS behavior.
Along with a forthcoming Policy Fundamentals course, DNS Fundamentals will
serve as a cornerstone for developing capacity in the ICANN ecosystem. Both
courses will be translated into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and
Spanish.
