Subject: Re: [Gnso-newgtld-wg] First Call?

Dear WG Members,

Welcome to all of those who have signed up to the WG already and we
appreciate your enthusiasm in initiating discussions.

Staff has consulted with Paul McGrady, the Council liaison and interim
chair, and identified a proposed date and time for the first WG meeting,
which is Thursday, 25 February 2016 at 16:00 UTC. As the New gTLD Subsequent
Procedures PDP is anticipated to be a topic of broad community interest, we
thought it would be beneficial to allow the call for volunteers to remain
open for a period of approximately three weeks. Going forward from that
initial meeting, the WG may want to identify a different day of the week and
time(s) that may be more convenient for members. Unless this proposed time
proves widely problematic, we will work with the GNSO Secretariat to have
meeting invitations sent to members in the near future.

In terms of staff participation, it is indeed expected that a number of
staff, including from the teams led by the folks Jeff mentioned, will at a
minimum follow the mailing list, if not actively participate in WG
discussions.

And to the discussion between Mirilia and Michele, the reason for targeting
the end of February for the first meeting was to allow for adequate time for
potential members to sign up before the WG begins discussions. However, as
Michele noted, signing up after the WG starts is possible.

Best,
Steve
