*Hello Alan,*
*
*
*thank you for forwarding this information. Prior to making any individual
comment on an open ICANN online space, I wish to submit that:*
*- this issue deserves a collective ALAC reaction,*
*- at the very least, the ALAC should underline that*
* - the panel lacks gender and cultural diversity (3 White males, even
if one of them hails from South Africa)*
* - all 3 come from the same mold (common law, corporate affairs,
English)*
* - their appointment reflects a clear choice in favour of business
corporations, rather than the global public interest and the worldwide
Internet user perspective*
* - our observations do not question the personal value of these
individuals, but refer to principles enshrined in the By-laws, recommended
in the "Improving Institutional Confidence" document of the (now defunct)
ICANN** President's Strategy Committee, and in the AoC*
* - nothing is said about the process followed by ICANN (Board? CEO?
General Counsel?) in seeking and appointing the 3 experts. The announcement
only states "ICANN has identified an international panel of experts...".*
*
*
*Jean-Jacques.
