Le premier séminaire de la série portait sur le sujet : « Le modèle multipartite de l’ICANN et l’augmentation des législations et des réglementations nationales », avec la participation des membres de notre communauté. Ce webinaire a également été une première étape de la rédaction de la prochaine déclaration pour la réunion conjointe AFRALO-AfrICANN. Afin de s’assurer que les sujets d’intérêt pour la région soient abordés dans la série de webinaires, une enquête a été lancée pour obtenir des suggestions de la communauté, ce qui nous a permis d’identifier plusieurs questions d’intérêt.</span></div>

<span style="font-family:Arial,Verdana,Helvetica,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12px">AFRALO a participé à diverses séances lors de la</span><span style="font-family:Arial,Verdana,Helvetica,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12px;font-weight:bold"> réunion virtuelle de la communauté ICANN70</span><span style="font-family:Arial,Verdana,Helvetica,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12px">, et comme d’habitude, nous avons également tenu notre réunion conjointe AFRALO-AfriICANN, où nous avons finalisé une déclaration intitulée « Le modèle multipartite de l’ICANN (MSM) et l’augmentation de la législation et des réglementations nationales ». La séance s’est tenue le 25 mars avec la participation de divers orateurs invités, dirigés par des membres africains du Conseil d’administration, le Président-directeur général de l’ICANN, le président de l’ALAC et d’autres experts dans le domaine du modèle multipartite.</span>

<div><span style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Arial,Verdana,Helvetica,sans-serif">Après avoir examiné en équipe notre programme global d’engagement au cours des huit dernières années, surtout en regardant notre offre d’événements (tant les initiatives de renforcement des capacités que les missions d’engagement), nous considérons qu’il est encore possible de rationaliser davantage, de peaufiner et de hiérarchiser certaines des activités dans lesquelles nous avons été impliqués jusqu’à présent, pour avoir un meilleur impact. Une plateforme permettant de regrouper, mettre à jour, suivre et synchroniser le travail effectué par notre communauté en Afrique, ainsi que d’obtenir des mises à jour et des commentaires directs du personnel de l’organisation ICANN. Nous proposons donc de piloter un événement régional convoqué sous le titre « Forum sur l’engagement en Afrique » prévu pour mai 2021. Les détails de l’ordre du jour et les dates seront communiqués à une date ultérieure.</span></div>

<div style="text-align:justify" align="justify"><span style="font-family:Arial,Verdana,Helvetica,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12px">La communauté africaine au sein de l’ICANN, ou AfrICANN, est unique ; dans chaque réunion ou événement de l’ICANN, les membres d’AfrICANN se réunissent pour travailler en réseau, coordonner et discuter d’un sujet d’intérêt pour la communauté Internet africaine au sein de l’ICANN. AfriICANN est un grand groupe d’amis et de collègues travaillant ensemble avec un objectif, à savoir, développer l’Internet en Afrique. L’Afrique est l’une des régions d’intérêt de l’acceptation universelle et je travaille avec différentes parties prenantes de la région dans le but d’établir une initiative panafricaine d’acceptation universelle qui travaillera à promouvoir la préparation pour l’acceptation universelle tout au long du continent.</span></div>

La pandémie du COVID-19 et les confinements ont prouvé que l’accès à l’Internet n’est pas un luxe mais un droit fondamental. Il y a un fort mouvement panafricain de l’entrepreneuriat technologique et un nouvel écosystème de startups en pleine fusion et en plein essor.</span></div>
