I also wanted to share the experience from 2 fellows (from Uganda and Ghana). They have been issued their visas and when I asked them, they told me that they supplied additional documents. One mentioned that the ICANN invitation letter states that ICANN will

 cover all costs though from reading the visa requirements he noted that he was required to provide proof of finances. So, he attached bank statements as well. As feedback, he said he would mention this to the Travel team for future reference.

They both informed me that they attached letters from their employers and one attached an additional letter from her school to show that she was a student and well as payslips. I am not saying that this could be the reason why they were granted their visas

 but I know that with some of our passports, we have to provide more documentation than other applicants.

<div>More lobbying in the background is exactly what Leon, our Board member, has been doing. We have all highlighted the situation more as a serious issue - not only for At-Large, and ICANN, but for specific countries. What you did 7 years ago is still relevant.

 If people want things to happen for themselves, they have to be proactive and to make the effort, as you did. And it worked. Constituency Travel is encouraging people to reapply and if you have to pay additional fees, you can be reimbursed these as well as

 the original fees. But I realise that it is all so frustrating and time consuming. But we live in a world where people are treated differently for different reasons. And with governments, it depends on the issues of the day.<br>

 And it should also be the responsibility of the AFRALO leadership to lead on this struggle. The fact that, they all have free rides to travel anywhere for ICANN events should not becloud their responsibilities to us-members from AFRALO.</div>
