[AFRI-Discuss] Questions about Tally vote the AFRALO Delegate for CIP CCG vote result - answers

Dear Chokri,

We appreciate your taking the time to review the Tally data. Staff would like to address your questions as follows:

Question 1) 4 counted votes are out of the vote period open on Tuesday, 28 November 2023 and close on Thursday, 30 November 2023 at 20:00 UTC
Answer: The vote was extended for a few hours to allow the individual members' representative to vote in the ALS election.The outcome of the vote was not impacted by the extra votes that were cast late. Note there is one poll for the ALSes and another poll for the individual members. The AFRALO Individual members poll normally launches before or in parallel to the general poll. The results of the individual membership poll “instruct” the Individual member representative to vote accordingly. This is in accordance to Article 5.10 d of AFRALO’s rules<https://community.icann.org/display/AFRALO/AFRALO+MOU+and+Organising+Documents?preview=/2261401/186782261/EN%20Operating%20Principles_Dec.2021-Fix%5B1%5D.pdf>.

Question 2) The empty vote is “counted”
Answer:  The system counts blank ballots but as they are blank they don't have an effect on the results of the vote.

Question 3) Ballot ID dc0d3111c8e2b5a  Received at 2023-11-29 19:47:09 UTC This vote is considered as duplicate although the duplicated vote arrived out of the deadline-
Answer: Yes, as it is a duplicate vote it was not counted and had no effect on the results of the vote. In general, the duplicate votes are not counted.

We would like to add that staff is working internally to select a more user - friendly voting system.

For the African community members I suggest that we provide a capacity building session on how to use this vote system in order to avoid duplicate votes and out date vote.
