Consider that GDPR's compliance is not close to the priorities of IT
leaders in Africa for 2017, this means that we are exposed to problems. The
GDPR - the* General Data Protection Regulation* - will always be a major
challenge, as it broadens the scope of issues that organizations need to
consider when planning their data strategy.

In Europe, this law on data protection has been finalized. This is called
the *General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)* and will replace local data
protection laws. The EU institutions have respected their promises to
eliminate red tape for business but also to strengthen privacy protections
for individuals. This means that privacy rules will change and
organizations that process personal information will need to adapt.

There are lines that can not be crossed. There are rules on the game. But
within limits and according to the rules, one is limited by one's own
creativity to achieve its objectives. One must be sure to navigate the risk
of confidentiality, to remain in the rules of the game, while allowing
privacy to be a business facilitator and to use personal data to increase
customer confidence.

*WHAT IS THE CASE IN AFRICA?*

In my opinion, Barrack's proposal merits special attention.
