Dear Friends,

I want to reiterate my intervention at the last Teleconference which may not have been appropriately captured or recorded because of the network problems.

On the issue of delisting INACTIVE ALs: My position was this :-

Of the almost 180 ALS within ALAC-ICANN, 26 are from Africa. AFRALO has over the years been concerned in trying to engage more NGOS within Africa to become ALS, and this effort is still ongoing. The visibility of/about ICANN activities is still very poor in Africa, and compared to other regions, Africa need to catch up with the Internet World as other continents.

If the above overaching interest is germane to AFRALO, must we at this stage be thinking of delisting already regisred ALS all in the guise of inactivity? Shouldn't AFRALO be concerned with what may have led to their inactivity? How do we measure inactivity? Who determines who is inactive or active?

Nurses Across the Borders is opposed to any delisting, instead, we should work around the ALs to be identified by the general house through a transparent process of checks and balances.

Please, I will appreciate if the At Large Staff can include this as part of the transcript for the teleconference.
Thank you.

Despite my usual availability, I could not attend the meeting yesterday:

he had delestage y electric current and we had no signal;
-by phone, I followed the exchanges but I could not intervene. I was
reduced to silence.
