About Name-Issues	English (USA)
This cross-community working group seeks to address brand-related string confusion, in relation to new gTLD creation, from the public point of view; after all, the original intent of trademarks was to protect consumers. We hope to come up with solutions that will apply existing trademark practise to domain names, that will honour name rights but also respect the limitations on those rights as understood in law and treaty. Our aim is to recommend policy that will -- support the creation of new gTLDs, reducing artificial scarcity in domain names -- drastically reduce bad-faith name speculation, name-squatting and phishing -- minimize the legal burden of legitimate name owners -- protect core concepts of free speech, privacy and due process To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the Name-Issues Archives.

To post a message to all the list members, send email to name-issues@atlarge-lists.icann.org. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Name-Issues
Subscribe to Name-Issues by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you.
